Mechanism assessment
An evaluation of the physical mechanisms that can and cannot produce the observed behavior.
About Brooks Photonics
Electrical, spectral, and noise measurements are reviewed together to separate material limitations, device behavior, and test artifacts.
Purpose
Infrared detector data rarely fails in only one dimension. Resistance, responsivity, spectral cutoff, noise, thermal behavior, contact geometry, and instrumentation can produce similar symptoms.
The review starts with the measurements already available and checks which explanations are consistent with the complete dataset.
Deliverable
An evaluation of the physical mechanisms that can and cannot produce the observed behavior.
Figures, calculations, assumptions, and confidence limits presented in a concise technical document.
Measurements selected to distinguish the remaining explanations without unnecessary process iterations.
Working method
Electrical, spectral, thermal, geometric, and test-system constraints are evaluated together.
Unknown quantities, model limits, and inferred parameters are identified rather than hidden.
Recommendations focus on measurements that separate competing physical explanations.
